John played an important role in the settlement and development of West Central Illinois, and was considered a great leader and a statesman.   ![BAM Concept Art for Woody The Trail Blazer Mascot Costume](https://www.bammascots.com/hs-fs/hubfs/preview-full-John_Wood_CC_-_Trail_Blazer.jpg?width=320&name=preview-full-John_Wood_CC_-_Trail_Blazer.jpg "BAM Concept Art for Woody The Trail Blazer Mascot Costume")John Wood Community College is also regarded as a pioneer in the field of educational innovation, workforce training, and lifelong learning.   Along with academics, the college is home to four athletic teams including two men’s and two women’s teams.    “Since the inaugural season in the fall of 1992, this department has produced several All-Americans, trips to national tournaments, and numerous scholarships for our student-athletes to four-year colleges/universities. Our programs take pride in our commitment to academics while producing quality people that succeed in all areas of life.”  [John Wood Blazers](http://johnwoodblazers.com/)    ![Woody the Trail Blazer for JWCC Mascot](https://www.bammascots.com/hs-fs/hubfs/preview-full-John_Wood_Community_College_Trail_Blazer_1.jpg?width=684&name=preview-full-John_Wood_Community_College_Trail_Blazer_1.jpg "Woody the Trail Blazer for JWCC Mascot")   The dedicated athletic department needed a new mascot to really show their team pride! JWCC contacted BAM Mascots to  help them bring their vision to life.   Woody the Trail Blazer was revealed in January, 2015, to faculty and students at a special assembly at the college. Woody arrived on stage accompanied by the John Wood cheerleaders, and was an instant hit with his new fans!   ![Woody the Trail Blazer John Wood Community College](https://www.bammascots.com/hs-fs/hubfs/preview-full-John_Wood_Community_College_Trail_Blazer.png?width=320&name=preview-full-John_Wood_Community_College_Trail_Blazer.png "Woody the Trail Blazer John Wood Community College")Woody is meant to embody the characteristics of John Wood.   "For us a trail blazer is someone who has discovered all roads and continues to go further just like John Wood did," JWCC Coordinator Of Student Life Alyssa Hummel said.    Woody's first event was to fire-up the crowd at a homecoming basketball game a few days later. SInce then, Woody has been a part of many games and events around the community, drawing the attention of everyone around him. JWCC uses their [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/john.wood.cc/?fref=ts) page to post school events and pictures of their mascot, which is a great way to engage  followers and fans.   A custom designed mascot brings several amazing benefits to your school!
