Developing a mascot for a school, business, or any other organization can involve as many or as few people in that organization as each client would like. Contests are sometimes held to come up with design ideas, including overall character type, right down to the mascot's name. Often, the mascot project team encourages other people to become involved in the creative process. When a mascot is being created for a specific community or organization, it can be helpful to have this creative support team involved from the beginning.
Whether you plan a specific reveal event, or have another idea in mind, it's important to plan the introduction of your character to start things off in a celebratory way. Your organization has invested in the mascot for a specific purpose and you want to make a great first impression.

Recently, we received a note from Sebring High School, Florida, along with some fantastic pictures of their mascot "Zeus", meeting staff and students at an athletic Pep Rally.
"We unveiled ZEUS today during a pep rally and I wanted to share some pictures with you. Thank you for your part in making our dream come true :) "

One of the first things you notice is his larger than life size. A high school student is wearing the costume, but ZEUS is head and shoulders above the crowd. How do we do that? Ah ... there is a bit of wizardry in our workshop!
Here's a tip for your reveal event - don't forget to have it recorded on video! You don't need to hire a videographer - just make sure that someone is ready with a camera or phone to record the action. There is nothing like the sight and sound of an excited audience meeting their mascot for the first time.
Here is a video clip from the Sebring High School, ZEUS unveiling.
Big event or small, you can get as creative as your imagination will allow and plan something special for your mascot's first day on the job. Remember to share your pictures with us on social media or sent them by email!
